Oldie, 1/10/09: A Prince of a Guy

Note:  I originally posted this on my old blog, which I'm in the process of shutting down. I'll be copying and reposting some of my "greatest hits" from 2008-2010.

New York Times obituary for William Zantzinger.

Name sound familiar?

Here's a video of Bob Dylan's appearance on the Steve Allen show. Steve Allen was a brilliant advocate for intelligence and quality, and I give him lots of credit for sensing the importance of a new artist.  Still, in this video (1964), he appears clueless about Bob Dylan, as well as stuffy, stiff and pedantic.  If you agree, you can zip forward to about the 7-minute mark and hear Bob tell the story of the late, unlamented Mr. Zantzinger.
