The Government Shutdown

Here are my top five takeaways from the United States of America Government Shutdown, in no order of importance. Well maybe they are in order of importance, as this reflects the order that the thoughts came to me. I am assuming the important thoughts came first but I still claim no order at all to this list.
First, the government shutdown has proven to be an ineffective way for the president to negotiate for his wall. Second, I suppose we should thank the president for shutting down the government. We have all learned just how much of a role the government plays in our lives by its absence. We have no passports issued just to name one item that went on hold. Third, we learned just how much to value the government workers. They went to work to protect (FBI) and serve (Post Office) us all, citizens and visitors alike, all the while knowing they would not be paid. Fourth, we learned that too many of us live from paycheck to paycheck and will very quickly get into money troubles …
